Victoria Johnson

Biography

Victoria is a St. Louis native now living in a small community outside of Springfield, MO. She has been playing music since childhood and comes by it quit natually. Her father played Swedish music from the time he was tall enough to play the accordian. He learned from his father who learned from his mother and on back through the generations.

She started playing piano then moved to guitar, playing in a Dylanesque all girl group in high school. As much as she wanted to be a Rock and Roller that just wasn't in the cards. During graduate school she discovered bluegrass and focused on that genre.

She has two sons, Zachary and Joshua and during the child raising years she gave up playing music for about 15 years. Then on a warm summer day while visiting Silver Dollar City located in Branson, MO. she discovered the hammered dulcimer and music came back into her life. Christmas that year her husband Randy presented her with her first hammered dulcimer.

Her main focus these days is on traditional music spanning bluegrass, celtic, old-time and exploring ragtime, early jazz and learning to play the fiddle.
